ADS Program


Students will receive a ticket allowance to book their tickets.

Share your international SIM card number with your ADEK Scholarship Advisor, family members, and loved ones.

Update your details on the ADEK Scholarship Management System (SMS), including your international number, international emergency contact, international address.

Share your entry and exit stamp details using the ICP application with your ADEK Scholarship Advisor.
Notify the Education & Technology Sciences Attaché Office (ETS) Advisor of your arrival.

Send a copy of your course or university registration/enrollment letter to your ADEK Scholarship Advisor.
The monthly stipend is deposited into the student’s bank account at the end of each month. The first payment will align with the study start date mentioned in the university enrollment letter. For example, if the study start date is in September, the monthly salary will be activated and received at the end of September.

Travel preparation, Laptop, and Hotel accommodation allowances; are one-time allowances provided during the first year of the scholarship.

Economy-class roundtrip tickets are provided twice a year (July and November) based on prices from the travel agency cooperated with ADEK.

Details of the allowances and stipend will be shared with you when signing your scholarship contract.
The Scholarships for Distinguished Students (ADS) program is a full-ride scholarship, covering tuition, health insurance, and living expenses during your undergraduate studies.
As per your student contract, if you withdraw before completion of your studies, you will be liable to pay back to ADEK all expenses incurred on your behalf.

In emergencies, students may request to put their scholarship and studies on hold for one semester only. This is subject to approval.
In emergencies, such as the death of a first-degree relative, serious illness, or natural disasters in the region of study, students must obtain prior approval from their ADEK Scholarship Advisor before traveling. Even if the university approves the request, returning to the UAE without ADEK’s formal approval violates scholarship rules. Such actions may result in strict disciplinary actions, including termination of the scholarship with a financial claim.

During Studies:


Represent the UAE in the best way.

Comply with the rules and regulations of the scholarship and the university.

Follow the university-approved study plan and graduate on time.

Enroll in full-time study and maintain good academic standing at the university.

Not to change University/Major without prior approval from ADEK.

Not to take a Minor major without prior approval from ADEK.

Not to withdraw from a course/ semester without prior approval from ADEK.

Not to take an off campus/ online or hybrid course(s) without prior approval from ADEK.

Maintain continuous communication with ADEK Scholarship Advisor and the Education & Technology Sciences Attaché Office (ETS) Advisor.

Update your scholarship profile regularly (e.g., contact details, academic documents, etc.)

Participate in initiatives, events, trainings, and internship programs with ADEK upon request.

Work in Abu Dhabi Government for a period equal to years of study after graduation.

Failure to provide correct information or to submit the required documents will lead to disciplinary action.

Not to be sponsored on another scholarship while on the ADEK ADS program.
Add your enrollment/registration letter in ADEK Scholarship Management System (SMS).

In your scholarship profile in ADEK Scholarship Management System (SMS), update your address and contact numbers in the UAE and abroad.
It depends on the university policy, so please review it on your university website and discuss it with your ADEK Scholarship Advisor.
Students may request to change their major, university, or country of study once during the scholarship program. However, students cannot make any changes related to their scholarship without ADEK approval.

The requested major/university must be listed on the ADEK website.

If a change happens without prior permission from ADEK, this violates the scholarship rules; as a result, students will receive a warning followed by termination from the scholarship program with a financial claim. The student will not receive the Financial Guarantee Letter, and the ETS Attaché Office will not cover the tuition fees unless there is approval from ADEK.

Steps to take:

a. Discuss the subject with your University Advisor and your parents and tell them about your choices. Please consider your interests, academic performance, career passion, and ADEK’s recommended majors and universities lists.

b. Contact your ADEK Scholarship Advisor stating you would like to change your major, university, or country of study.

c. Your ADEK Scholarship Advisor will discuss this with you to ensure it is the appropriate action change.

d. Once your ADEK Scholarship Advisor confirms your eligibility to make a change, submit your request through the Scholarship Management System (SMS) and your supporting documents.

e. Your ADEK Scholarship Advisor will review your request and submit it for approval, and you will receive a notification through the Scholarship Management System (SMS) once the decision is made.

f. If the Abu Dhabi Scholarships approves your request, your ADEK Scholarship Advisor will contact the Education & Technology Science Attaché (ETS) Office to issue you a new Financial Guarantee Letter. If your request is rejected, you must remain in your major/university as per ADEK’s recommendation.

Required Documents: Acceptance Letter, Transfer Credit Letter, and Study Plan for the New Major/University.
International students must maintain full-time student status by enrolling in a minimum of 12 credit hours or its equivalent required in your university curriculum during a regular academic term.

If your university applies a penalty for dropping or withdrawing from a course, you are responsible for covering these charges.

Dropping a course after the add/drop or census deadline may result in a financial penalty if the course cost is non-refundable. The penalty will be deducted from your stipend.

Failing to complete the minimum required credit hours in an academic year may affect the student’s visa and scholarship leading to academic notices and warnings, and result in termination from the scholarship program.

During the add/drop or census period, ADEK approval is not required if students maintain full time credits, but you should discuss changes with your University Advisor to ensure it does not impact your overall study plan.

Students must follow their study plan and pay attention to the prerequisites and the courses available in specific terms during the academic year.

Follow your study plan carefully, considering prerequisites and the availability of specific courses during the academic year. If course changes significantly impact your graduation date, you must submit an updated study plan to your ADEK Scholarship Advisor.

Steps to take:

1. Check the deadlines of the add/drop or census period on your university website Academic Calendar and consult with your University Advisor before changing any courses.

2. Contact your ADEK Scholarship Advisor if you want to with from a course after the add/drop period.

3. Your ADEK Scholarship Advisor will discuss this with you to ensure this is the correct action.

4. Once your ADEK Scholarship Advisor confirms your eligibility to make this request, log in to ADEK SMS and submit your request along with your new study plan.

5. Your ADEK Scholarship Advisor will review your request, and you will receive a notification through the SMS once the decision is made.

Yes, once only, students are allowed to take only one semester off for the entire duration of their scholarship. Submit an official request through the ADEK Scholarship Management System (SMS), including the university's official approval for pausing your studies.

Note:During the semester off, housing payments will only be provided if requested and supported by proof of rent documents.
Students may be able to add a Minor during their undergraduate scholarship program if it does not require extending study duration or requiring extra tuition and fees.

Students can declare a Minor when their CGPA is 3.00 and above or its equivalent.

Students can declare a maximum of two Minors, and they can be selected based on their relevance to the study area and sometimes on personal interest.

We recommend declaring Minors in the second to third year of university.

Steps to take:

1. Discuss the subject with your University Advisor. Please consider your interests, academic performance, career passions, and the majors in demand in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Check the ADEK website for the list of approved majors.

2. Contact your ADEK Scholarship Advisor stating you would like to add a Minor.

3. Your ADEK Scholarship Advisor will discuss this with you to ensure this is the correct course of action.

4. Once your ADEK Scholarship Advisor confirms your request eligibility, email your ADEK Scholarship Advisor stating your Minors and attach your supporting documents.

5. Your ADEK Scholarship Advisor will review your request, and you will receive a notification through the Scholarship Management System (SMS) once a decision is made.

Required Document: University Advisor Letter and Study Plan to show expected graduation date.
Double major is not permitted as per the rules of your scholarship contract.
Students must request to take any Summer/Winter courses and receive approval before enrolling either in or off-campus.

Students must not enroll in more than 9 credits or the maximum units or its equivalent as per their university, for all Summer/Winter term.

If students are found to be taking Summer/Winter courses as described above without permission, ADEK will deduct the tuition fees from their stipend.

Students must apply in the Scholarship Management System (SMS) a minimum of two weeks before starting classes.

Steps to take:

1. Email your University Advisor and have them send you a letter that states:

a) The courses you are requesting to take are for the completion of your degree OR the approved Study Plan from your Advisor OR you can use the Study Plan already submitted to ADEK if it is up to date (otherwise, a new Study Plan will need to be submitted).

b) States the mode of instruction for each course (e.g., Online, Hybrid, In-Person, or Remote).

2. Submit your request in the Scholarship Management System (SMS) and upload documents.

3. If you also want to take any course at a university outside of your Home University – you will need your University Advisor to write a letter:

a) The course/credits will transfer to your Home University.

4. Your ADEK Scholarship Advisor will review your request, and you will receive a notification through the Scholarship Management System (SMS) once a decision is made:

a) If Accepted – enroll in the Summer/Winter courses at your university.

b) If Rejected – your ADEK Scholarship Advisor will send you an email to tell you what is missing or additional information you may need to provide.

Required Documents: University Advisor Letter or Study Plan.
Students must request to take any off-campus courses and receive approval before starting classes.

ADEK will not cover the tuition fees for unapproved off-campus courses.

Students must apply in the Scholarship Management System (SMS) a minimum of two weeks before starting classes.

Steps to take:

1. Meet/email your University Advisor to provide you with a letter that states:

a) The courses are for the completion of your degree.

b) Mode of instruction for each course (e.g., Online, Hybrid, In-Person, or Remote).

2. Submit your request through SMS and upload your supporting documents.

3. If you also want to take any course at a university outside of your Home University – you will need your University Advisor to write a letter:

b) The course/credits will transfer to your Home University.

4. Your ADEK Scholarship Advisor will review your request, and you will receive a notification through the SMS once a decision is made:

c) If Accepted – enroll in the Summer/Winter courses.

d) If Rejected – your ADEK Scholarship Advisor will send you an email to tell you what is missing or additional information you may need to provide.

Required Documents: Official University Letter which shows approving the course transfer, Enrollment Letter from the Host University which shows the Mode of Instruction.
Students must request to take non-traditional courses and receive approval from ADEK before enrolling in any online/hybrid course.

Students must not enroll in more than 9 non-traditional credits per term or not more than 30 credits/units or its equivalent for the duration of their program; it must be major courses, not general education or elective courses.

If students are found to be taking non-traditional courses without permission, ADEK will deduct the tuition fees from their stipend.

Students must apply in the Scholarship Management System (SMS) a minimum of two weeks before starting classes.

Steps to take:

1. Meet/email your University Advisor to provide you with a letter that states:

a) The non-traditional course(s) are for the completion of your degree.

b) Mode of instruction for each course (e.g., Online, Hybrid, Web).

2. Submit your request in the SMS and upload your supporting document.

Required Documents: Course/module overview, University Advisor Letter.
Repeated courses will not be covered without prior written approval from ADEK and it must be only for courses with an earned grade of C or less or its equivalent.

You can repeat courses one time only. If you need to repeat a course for the third time due to major requirements – the student will pay for it through a stipend deduction.

Courses can be repeated only if the earned grade is a C or less. If your program requires a grade higher than a C, and you did not achieve it, you must contact your ADEK Scholarship Advisor for guidance.

If students are found to be taking courses without permission, the tuition and fees can be taken out of their stipend.

Contact your ADEK Scholarship Advisor directly to request to take a repeated course.

Students may request to suspend study for an upcoming semester a minimum of one month before the start of the semester.

If any financial penalty is incurred due to failure to meet the university deadline for withdrawal, students will be responsible for this charge, and it will be deducted from their monthly stipend.

During the semester, when the student is withdrawn, they will not receive their stipend or other financial benefits. However, they can receive their Housing Allowance.

Students must register in the SMS system and show evidence of enrollment for the following semester in order for financial benefits to be reinstated.

Steps to take:

1. Check with your International Student Services (ISS) office to learn the requirements and processes for withdrawing for a semester.

2. Contact your ADEK Scholarship Advisor stating you would like to withdraw for one semester.

3. Your Advisor will discuss this with you to be sure this is the correct course of action.

4. If agreed, log in to the SMS system and complete the request.

5. Your ADEK Scholarship Advisor will review your request, and you will receive a notification through the SMS.

6. If approved, inform your International Student Services (ISS) office and follow the steps required to process the withdrawal through your university.

Required Documents: Medical Report, if applicable.
Letter of Notice: student receives the letter of Notice in any of the following cases:

1. Semester GPA falls below 2.7 out of 4.0 or its equivalent per country curriculum.

2. If the completed credit hours in a semester are below 12 credit hours or its equivalent or minimum university required units.

1st Warning Letter: student receives a warning letter in any of the following cases:

1. Cumulative GPA falls below 2.7 out of 4.0 or its equivalent per country curriculum.

2. If the completed credit hours in a semester are below 12 credit hours or its equivalent or minimum university required units.

2nd Warning Letter: student receives a warning letter in any of the following cases:

1. Cumulative GPA falls below 2.7 out of 4.0 or its equivalent per country curriculum excluding the summer semester.

2. If the completed credit hours in a semester are below 12 credit hours or its equivalent or minimum university required units.

Termination: Cumulative GPA falls below 2.7 out of 4.0 or its equivalent per country curriculum and/ or if the completed credit hours in a semester are below 12 credits or its

equivalent or minimum university required units excluding the summer semester and a scholarship cancelation with a financial claim after receiving the 2nd warning letter would apply in any of the following cases:

1. If a student’s performance does not meet the expectations after receiving the 2nd warning letter.

2. In the event of a breach of the terms mentioned in the scholarship contract.

Scholarships for Distinguished Students (ADS) will offer you full support through our ADEK Scholarship Advisor and the ETS Attaché Office Advisor in your country of study.
ADEK Scholarship Advisors will schedule advisory sessions once or twice during the academic year to discuss certain academic and non-academic matters. However, students are highly encouraged to request additional meetings when needed.
If a student is planning to get married to a UAE National or citizen of any other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) state, they should first inform their ADEK Scholarship Advisor.

Marriage, during the period of his/her study, to a person who is not a citizen of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, may result in cancellation of the scholarship along with demanding the refund of all or some of the tuition fees or the monetary stipends.

To be eligible for the married student housing allowance, married students must provide a copy of the marriage certificate. Once available, they will also need to provide a copy of their new family book.

Steps to take:

Contact your ADEK Scholarship Advisor with details of your upcoming marriage.

Provide a copy of your marriage certificate and passport of your new spouse to your ADEK Scholarship Advisor.

Married student housing allowance will begin the month after submission of the marriage certificate.

Submit a new family book within 2 months of marriage.

Required Documents: Marriage Certificate, and new Family Book.
Upload into your profile in ADEK Scholarship Management System (SMS) the following documents:

a. Marriage Contract

b. New Family Book

c. Spouse’s Passport (please note that this is eligible for spouses from GCC countries)

Note: The extra housing allowance for married scholarship students will be paid if the spouse lives with the scholarship student abroad, and proof this sending a copy of the flight ticker and by the border control (Exit and Entry Stamp in the Passport) of the spouse.
a. A roundtrip ticket allowance (Economy Class) based on the prices provided by the travel agency cooperates with ADEK after sharing the exit and entry stamp of the UAE and country of study for the spouse.

b. Reimbursement of Visa Allowance.

c. Health insurance conditions apply the same as the ADEK scholarship students.

Note: The above allowances will be reimbursed after sharing the border control (Exit/ Entry Stamps on the Passport) of the spouse. An eligible married student can apply for this request through ADEK Scholarship Management System (SMS).
This is eligible for female student’s guardian only (first-degree relatives include parents and siblings) in the first academic year only will be entitled to the following allowance:

a. A roundtrip ticket allowance (Economy Class) based on the prices provided by the travel agency cooperates with ADEK after sharing the exit and entry stamp of the UAE and country of study for the female student.

b. A per diem allowance (Chaperone Request) for 60 days during the first year of the scholarship.

c. Siblings must not be younger than 18 years old.

d. ADEK does not offer a letter for the companion to submit to the work for leave purposes.

Note: The above allowances will be reimbursed after sharing the border control (Exit/ Entry Stamps on the Passport) of the female student’s guardian. An eligible female student can apply for this request through ADEK Scholarship Management System (SMS).
Students can request to change their bank account during the scholarship.

The request must be through SMS.

Students must provide an official bank letter, including account details.

Students will receive confirmation from the system that their bank change has been Approved or Rejected.

1. If Approved – no more action is needed.

2. If Rejected – your ADEK Scholarship Advisor will contact you as to the reason and ask you to amend, change or submit alternate documents.
From your ETS Attaché Advisor if the financial guarantee letter is for the university/ student visa/ housing.

From your ADEK Scholarship Advisor if the financial guarantee letter is for applying or renewing your visa.
The ETS Attaché Office will be responsible for paying your tuition fees based on the invoices received by your university. Please ensure that you have uploaded your university enrollment/ registration letter on ADEK Scholarship Management System (SMS) as it is a required document by the ETS Attaché Office to pay your tuition fees.

ADEK will not consider reimbursement for course tuition without pre-approval from the Scholarship Advisor at ADEK.

The reimbursement request for course tuition taken off-campus abroad must be sent to your Advisor at the ETS Attaché Office. Students should send their bank details to their Advisor at the ETS Attaché Office to do the needful.

The reimbursement request for course tuition taken off-campus inside the UAE must send to your Scholarship Advisor at ADEK

For off-campus courses abroad, submit your request to your Advisor at the ETS Attaché Office.

For off-campus courses in the UAE, apply for the reimbursement request through SMS.

Regarding medical health insurance, starting each academic year, the ETS Attaché Office will provide ADEK sponsored students with private health insurance.

For US students, you must waive your health insurance provided by your university from your university account because the scholarship fully covers it. If you forgot to waive the health insurance and your university charges you for it, you are responsible for paying it. For more information on the health insurance policy at your university, please visit the university website or contact the International Students Office at your university.
For Medical Claim not Covered by Health Insurance, kindly follow the next steps:

1. SEHA must approve the medical report, whether it is issued from a health medical care in the UAE or abroad.

2. Request through TAMM or Printing Office for approving your medical report.

3. As soon as you receive approval on your medical report, apply for the reimbursement request through SMS.

Required Documents: Medical report approved from SEHA, health care invoice that was not covered by health insurance.
To receive the Graduation Letter from ADEK to follow the procedure of equalization on the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) website, please send the required documents below in ONE email to your ADEK Scholarship Advisor:
